Industrial production grows steadily as 62 out of 63 provinces record increases
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s industrial production index (IIP) during the opening four months of this year rose by 8.4% year on year, with 62 out of 63 provinces nationwide recording increases, according to the National Statistics Office (NSO).
The national-level IIP edged up 1.4% from March and 8.9% from compared to April 2024, reported the NSO.
Manufacturing and processing expanded by 10.1%, contributing the most to the country's industrial output. Other industries like electricity, water supply, and waste management also obtained steady growth. Only mining declined by 4.5%, slightly holding back the overall growth.
Some industries saw especially high production growth, including car manufacturing, up 35.1%; clothing production, up 15.7%; rubber and plastic products, up 16.4%; and TVs and LPG double-digit growth.
Locally, several provinces recorded exceptional growth, including Phu Tho, up 47.4%; Bac Kan, up 27.9%; Bac Giang, up 27.3%; and Nam Dinh, up 24.7%. Only Ba Ria-Vung Tau endured a decrease of 3.2% in IIP.
The NSO also reported that the number of workers in industrial enterprises increased by 5.1% year on year.
