India, Vietnam sign MoU to expand IT and services cooperation

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA) and the Services Export Promotion Council of India (SEPC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in New Delhi on March 25, creating new opportunities in information technology and services.

Under the MoU, VINASA and SEPC will coordinate closely to promote trade and investment in IT and services; support the organisation of business delegations and business-to-business (B2B) connections; share market and policy information; and assist enterprises from both countries in accessing cooperation opportunities and expanding markets.

Nguyen Thi Thu Giang, Vice Chairwoman and General Secretary of VINASA, said cooperation with SEPC will provide an important foundation for Vietnamese IT firms to expand into the Indian market, while strengthening links with international partners in digital services, software outsourcing and digital transformation.

On the Indian side, Abhay Sinha, Director General of SEPC, said the two countries boast huge potential for cooperation in services and technology, and that SEPC is ready to work with VINASA to enhance business linkages, service export promotion and the development of specific cooperation projects in the coming period.

Bui Trung Thuong, Vietnamese Trade Counsellor in India, welcomed the signing of the MoU and said it shows the results of recent trade promotion activities, showing both sides’ commitment to turning exchanges into concrete cooperation. He noted that Vietnam and India have complementary strengths in IT, with Vietnam emerging as a centre for manufacturing and technology development, while India has strengths in software and digital services.

According to Bui Trung Thuong, cooperation in IT, electronics and the digital economy is in line with the development orientation of both countries and contributes to bilateral trade, with electronics, computers and components currently accounting for the largest share. Strengthening business linkages and implementing concrete cooperation initiatives will help enhance the position of enterprises from both countries in global value chains.

He added that the Vietnam Trade Office in India will continue to accompany businesses and support initiatives to augment bilateral economic and technological cooperation.

The signing of the MoU between VINASA and SEPC is expected to provide fresh impetus for Vietnam-India cooperation in digital technology, contributing to service trade, innovation and sustainable development in the coming period.
