Ho Chi Minh City leads Vietnam in export turnover

VOV.VN - Last year saw Ho Chi Minh City surge far ahead of other localities in the group of top exporters in Vietnam, according to the Vietnam export-import report 2022 unveiled on April 27 by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Statistics show Ho Chi Minh City earned US$47.5 billion from exports last year, closely followed by Bac Ninh, a small province next to Hanoi, that raked in US$45.1 billion.

Other localities in the top five were Binh Duong, Thai Nguyen, and Hai Phong with an export value of US$34.3 billion, US$29.8 billion, and US$24.9 billion, respectively.

Elsewhere, Hanoi was placed eighth with export earnings of US$17.1 billion.

Lai Chau, a locality in the north-western mountainous region, was among localities with the lowest export turnover, at US$20.5 billion.

Other localities in the north-western mountainous region with low export earnings were Son La, Bac Can, and Dien Bien that generated US$21.8 billion, US$33.46 billion, and US$42.6 billion from exports, respectively.

Compiled and edited by the Export-Import Department, the Commerce newspaper, and the General Department of Customs, the report was announced and published for the first time in March 2017.

The report enables users to review and forecast the efficiency of foreign trade activities. Many experts have stated that the annual publication meets requirements in the context of the country’s increasing global integration.
