Ho Chi Minh City enterprises keep abreast with growth momentum

VOV.VN - By recording positive economic results in the first half of this year, numerous enterprises based in Ho Chi Minh City expect to keep pace with the growth momentum in order to boost their production and business activities over the coming months.

According to details given by the municipal Statistics Office, throughout the period, total retail sales of goods expanded by 9.7% on-year, revenue from accommodation and food services surged by 36.2%. In particular, the number of foreign tourists to the southern city tripled over the same period, thereby contributing to the boost in domestic demand and economic growth.

The index of industrial production (IIP) in June grew by 2.3% month-on-month, and 4.8% against that from the same month of last year. In the January to June period, the IIP increased by 1.9% on-year.

A survey relating to business trends of manufacturing and processing enterprises in the southern metropolis also indicated an improvement in production and business activities ahead in the second quarter of the year compared to the previous one.

Specifically, 19.3% of enterprises rated their production and business situation as better, whilst 34.1% held steady, and 46.6% found it more difficult.

State-owned enterprises were the most optimistic with 66.7% of respondents saying that their operations were better and remained stable. Meanwhile, the rates in foreign-invested and non-state enterprises stood at 56.2% and 50.3%, respectively.

For the third quarter, 26.4% of respondents predicted that their production and business will be better, 35.1% stable, and 38.5% more difficult.
