HCM City to host international exhibition on denim and sportswear supply chain

VOV.VN - A press conference was held on February 17 in Ho Chi Minh City to unveil the fifth international exhibition on denim and sportswear supply chain.

The event was jointly held by the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, the Indian Business Association in Vietnam, and Balaji Enterprises India.

Following a three-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the fifth edition of Denimsandjeans Vietnam Show themed “YOGIM” is to return, bringing together major denim manufacturers from Vietnam and 10 countries around the world. The purpose of the event is to introduce a range of key innovations in production in line with the trend of sustainable development.

Sandeep Agarwal, director of Balaji Enterprises India, emphasised that the highlight of the event will be the "DENIM BAZAAR" zone, an area which will be set up for Vietnamese fashion brands to showcase innovative denim products and recycled denim.

The exhibition is scheduled to run from March 1 to March 2 and will offer an ideal venue for visitors to gain greater insights into a variety of high-quality products made by Vietnamese people.

Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai, general secretary of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, pointed out that the event is anticipated to provide visitors with an overall picture of Vietnamese supply chains and denim supply services.

A number of seminars and programmes will be planned during the event with a specific focus on the denim industry, breakthroughs of denim with the creative assistance of AI, sustainability, and traceability.

Currently, the nation is exporting more than 65 million pieces of denim clothing worldwide with the import tax rate to the EU market standing at between 4% and 6%. Moving forward the tax rate will be slashed to 0% over the next two years.
