HCM City and US co-operate to boost electronic and IC design capabilities
VOV.VN - The Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) and Cadence Design Systems of the United States signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on May 30 to jointly develop human resources for electronics system design and to accelerate the development of the semiconductor chip industry in Vietnam.
Addressing the signing ceremony, Nguyen Anh Thi, head of the Management Board of Saigon Hi-Tech Park, emphasised that the partnership will create opportunities for students to gain greater access to cutting-edge technology in integrated circuit (IC) and system design, as well as learning practical experience in the field of electronics and microchips.
The cooperation is expected to enhance the capacity of the SHTP Chip Design Center (SCDC), contributing to the development of the semiconductor IC industry in Ho Chi Minh City.
Michael Shih, corporate vice president of the Asia Pacific and Japan of Cadence Design Systems, said the Cadence’s partnership with SHTP and universities is aimed at assisting human resource development in Vietnam by equipping young engineers with the necessary skills, contributing to the further development of high technology locally.
Take the floor, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung said foreign businesses pin hopes on Vietnam’s development potential, especially young people’s dynamism and creativity.
