Hanoi welcomes opening of Vietnam-Japan supporting industry exhibition

VOV.VN - The 14th Vietnam Manufacturing Expo (VME) and the 10th Vietnam-Japan Supporting Industry Exhibition (Supporting Industries Exhibition - SIE 2023) officially kicked off on August 9 in Hanoi.

On display at the expos are a range of machinery and technologies of the manufacturing and supporting industries from 200 leading brands of more than 20 countries around the world.

The purpose of these events is to tighten trade relations among enterprises in both the Vietnamese and Japanese supporting industries, while simultaneously accelerating the manufacturing industry and production of industrial spare parts in the Vietnamese market.

Takeo Nakajima, chief representative of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), revealed that 22 Japanese companies operating in the country expressed their keen interest in seeking domestic suppliers at the exhibitions.

Furthermore, 28 Vietnamese companies have also expressed their desire to supply their products to Japanese businesses at the function.

The JETRO representative pointed out that Japanese enterprises have encountered numerous difficulties in terms of seeking suppliers, adding that the occasion will create a wealth of opportunities for them to meet quality suppliers moving forward.

Moreover, JETRO wishes to make further contributions to the development of supporting industries in the nation, whilst helping Japanese businesses find suitable suppliers in the market, said Nakajima.

At the event, Yip Je Choong, senior vice president of Commercial Asia-Pacific and Corporate Management of RELX (Singapore), emphasised that the events will provide an ideal venue in which to strengtheni connectivity among spare parts manufacturers, companies in the supporting industries, and related manufacturing fields.

Japanese Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam Watanabe Shige expressed their wish that the stable supply source of raw materials and components will help reduce costs whilst also improving the capacity of the supporting industry as a contribution to promoting the development of the domestic manufacturing industry.

The Japanese Government will do their best to support Vietnamese supporting industries, especially the establishment of production factories in order to help Japanese enterprises strengthen the supply chain.
