The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) presented the JICA President Award on December 11 to three transport projects funded by Japanese ODA that have formed a new international gateway in Hanoi.
The projects are the Terminal T2 of Noi Bai International Airport, Nhat Tan Bridge (also known as Vietnam – Japan Friendship Bridge), and the road connecting Noi Bai airport and Nhat Tan Bridge.
They are said to have considerably improved goods transport from Noi Bai to downtown Hanoi, thus greatly enhancing the capital city’s investment climate.
Addressing the presentation ceremony in Hanoi, Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang said the facilities’ construction was completed as scheduled thanks to the Vietnamese and Japanese Governments’ effective assistance and the two sides’ efforts.
The annual JICA President Award is granted to the agency’s projects as well as collectives and individuals worldwide so as to recognise their practical and significant contributions to local socio-economic development.
Nine projects, four individuals and one collective receive the Award in 2015, including those in Nepal, Cambodia, India, Ethiopia, Chile, Bangladesh and Jordan, besides the projects in Vietnam.
