Hanoi trade exchange to connect Vietnam – Myanmar businesses
VOV.VN - A trade exchange to connect businesses of Vietnam and Myanmar is scheduled to take place in Hanoi on May 13, aiming to provide businesses of the two countries with fresh opportunities to learn about the market, seek partners, and strengthen cooperation.
The event will be jointly organised by the Vietnam-Myanmar Friendship Association (VMFA) and the Myanmar-Vietnam Friendship Association (MVFA).
Firms specialising in the fields of construction, banking, logistics, electricity, infrastructure development, agriculture, pharmaceutical distribution, tourism services, and solar energy are invited to participate in the exchange.
Statistics show Vietnamese export turnover to Myanmar reached US$75.4 million in the first quarter of the year, a drop of 47% year on year.
Among the 17 export items to Myanmar, materials for garments and footwear recorded the biggest turnover with US$10.1 million, representing a 14% rise from a year earlier. Fertilizer exports were second with a turnover of US$8.8 million, up 3.5%. In Q1, Vietnam exported 17,130 tonnes of fertilizers to Myanmar, up 23% year on year.
