The Regional Speciality Fair is an annual event directed by the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee chaired by HPA. Held for the fifth year, this year’s Regional Speciality Fair will continue to help businesses and localities promote their special products to the residents of the capitol, join supply chains, and boost exports.
With about 300 booths by over 200 businesses from Vietnam and six countries, this year’s major exhibits will be foodstuff (confectioneries, canned and processed food, and functional food), beverages (tea, coffee, wine, and Hibiscus products), spices, herbs, handicrafts, and others.
This year, the Regional Speciality Fair will be held in the same time and place with the One Village One Product (OVOP) trade fair, which is expected to have 100 booths, displaying special products from more than 20 craft villages in Hanoi, and a multitude of villages from Japan, Pakistan, Bulgari, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Slovakia, showcasing their specific cultural and artistic value.
Especially, at the OVOP trade fair, visitors will be able to witness with their own eyes how clever and skilful Vietnamese craftsmen are.
Over the past years, the professionalism of the Regional Speciality Fair has been increasing, eliciting increasing attention from cities and provinces. The fair has so far helped link exhibitors and distribution units and retailers, thus bringing opportunities for them to be present in leading supermarkets such as Vinmart, Big C, AEON, and Lotte.
Last year, the Regional Speciality Fair 2017 attracted a record number of 15,000 visitors to conduct more transactions than ever before. Participant businesses have so far benefited greatly from previous events.
“We have been participating in the fair for four years, as it has helped us find more distribution partners, thus promoting our products,” said Pham Trong Nghia, general director of MTV Pham Nghia T&N.
“Our three Pakistani firms have been attending the Regional Speciality Fair for years and gained good business results. The fair not only helped us promote sales and find new partners, but also introduced Pakistani culture to Vietnamese people,” said Sumair Mustansar Tarar, commercial secretary of the Pakistani Embassy in Vietnam.
According to statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, by the end of the second quarter of 2018, Vietnam had more than ten key agro-export products being available in more than 160 countries and territories across the globe.
The third important event is the conference to boost trade activities and co-operation between Hanoi and other cities and provinces, slated to be held on November 21, 2018, focusing mainly on the fields of trade and agriculture.
The conference will be a chance for businesses in Hanoi and other localities to share their experiences and discuss measures to promote production and sales as well as to develop their distribution networks and to boost exports.
The three important events show Hanoi’s determination to help promote regional specialities as well as protect and develop craft villages in the future.
