Hanoi, Japanese firm partner in developing smart city

The Hanoi People’s Committee, BRG Group and Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation signed a cooperation agreement on developing Nhat Tan-Noi Bai urban project with total investment of more than US$4 billion, aiming to build the most modern smart city of Southeast Asia in the north of Hanoi.

The deal was inked on June 5 in Tokyo during Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s ongoing visit to Japan.
Earlier, the BRG Group signed with the Sumitomo Corporation, one of the three largest enterprises of Japan, to develop the project in April. The BRG also chose P&T Consultants to provide consultancy for the project.

Total construction area of the project is 2,080 hectares along both sides of the Vo Nguyen Giap road, including four main sections with a length of 11.7km.

The detailed planning of three sections with total length of some 11.1km was approved in early 2016.
