GS25 celebrates opening of 100th store in Vietnam

VOV.VN - Originally being famous for being a popular convenience store chain in the Republic of Korea, GS Retail Co. recently marked the opening of its 100th store in Becamex building in Binh Duong province.

The firm stated that over the coming year it has plans to open up its brand to franchises with the aim of launching over 100 stores nationwide each year. This comes after last year saw the enterprise open a total of 33 stores in the country.

According to data compiled from the purchasing behaviour of customers at the Korean convenience store chain, last year witnessed items such as instant tteokbokki rice cakes, bottled mineral water, dumplings, and sausages among the best-selling items at GS25 stores in the country.

The revenue of GS25 throughout January and February recorded a strong increase of 46.7% compared to the same period from last year.

Furthermore, the opening two months of this year saw revenue of GS25's private coffee brand Cafe 25 enjoy a leap of 283% over the same period last year.

The convenience store chain originally entered the nation in 2018 after opening a store in Ho Chi Minh through a joint venture with the Son Kim Group, which operates in the retail, real estate, and media sectors.
