Green SM honoured with Asia Green Leadership Award
VOV.VN - Green SM, Southeast Asia’s first all-electric ride-hailing platform developed by Green and Smart Mobility JSC (GSM) has been honoured in the Green Leadership category at the 2025 Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) recently held in Bangkok, Thailand.

This award recognises Green SM’s pioneering efforts in building a sustainable transportation model in Vietnam and gradually expanding its impact across international markets.
Launched by Enterprise Asia in 2011, AREA is one of Asia’s most prestigious awards recognising outstanding businesses in sustainable development, innovation, and community responsibility. With the 2025 theme "A Necessary Shift to a Regenerative Economy," the award emphasises the role of enterprises in restoring ecosystems and creating long-term community value.
In the Green Leadership category, Green SM received high praise for its comprehensive electrification model and its ability to rapidly and effectively scale across different markets. In addition to operating its own electric vehicle fleet, Green SM developed the Green SM Platform, which enables VinFast EV owners to provide ride-hailing services.
The company has also partnered with traditional taxi businesses to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles. This collaborative model forms an open ecosystem that promotes faster adoption of green transportation in Vietnam and throughout the region.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Phan Thi Hong Dung, Deputy CEO at GSM, noted that every Green SM ride not only reduces emissions but also helps shape positive habits and sustainable lifestyles in society.
“For Green SM, sustainability is not just part of our business strategy — it’s deeply embedded in our organizational culture.…..We’re proud that Green SM’s global journey is being recognised and amplified on such a prestigious Asian platform,” she said.
Winning the Green Leadership award at AREA 2025 marks a major milestone in Green SM’s ongoing “Go Green Global” initiative. This honour not only affirms the achievements of a young Vietnamese enterprise, but also serves as a testament to Vietnam’s capacity for innovation, scalable implementation, and its contribution to the global green transition.
After two years of operation across Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, and the Philippines, Green SM and its customers have completed more than 300 million zero-emission trips, covering 1.7 billion kilometers. The total CO₂ reduction is estimated at over 211,000 tonnes, equivalent to the carbon absorption capacity of approximately 3,200 hectares of forest per year.
In Vietnam, Green SM, known as Xanh SM, currently leads the tech-based taxi market with nearly 40% market share and partners with nearly 100 transportation companies in the green transition. Major names such as G7 Taxi, Mai Linh, Lado Taxi, and En Vang have joined the movement, with 19 of them fully converting to EVs, signaling that green mobility is becoming the new urban norm.
With a presence in four Southeast Asian countries, Green SM is now the second-largest ride-hailing brand in the region, and the only one operating entirely on electric vehicles. Its ability to scale effectively across markets with different infrastructures and user behaviours is a clear demonstration of the company’s large-scale deployment capability, adaptability, and regional strategic vision as a leading Vietnamese brand.
