Global integration is key
The Vietnam Business Forum 2015 and the Vietnam Development Partnership Forum 2015 will open this week as a platform for the Vietnamese government and the business and donor communities to discuss measures to improve the nation’s investment climate and socio-economic development amid the increasingly deeper global integration.
Under the theme: “Enhancing Enterprise Competitiveness for Global Integration”, the Vietnam Business Forum (VBF) final-term meeting on December 1 will focus on ten groups of issues, including business climate overview, trade and investment, infrastructure, transparency and governance, human resources, banking and capital markets, agriculture, education and training, automobile sector, and mining.
The Vietnam Development Partnership Forum 2015 (VDPF 2015) will be held on December 3 under the theme: “Towards Competitive, Inclusive and Sustainable Growth”. At this year’s forum, two main discussion sessions will be held. As scheduled, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will be in attendance and will hold discussions with Vietnam’s development partners.

During the first session entitled “The Socio-Economic Development Plan for 2016-2020: Main Orientations”, the Ministry of Planning and Investment and development partners will report the main results on the socio-economic situation such as it stands in 2015.
In addition, the main contents of the socio-economic development plan for 2016-2020 will be discussed. The forum discussions of Vietnam’s development future will take place within the wider context of the country’s deeper integration into the global economy, and the challenges it faces implementing the sustainable development goals set by the UN.
Meanwhile, during the second discussion session, development partners will present a mid-term review on the “Three Strategic Breakthroughs of the Socio-Economic Development Strategy (SEDS) for 2011-2020”.
The review will outline the implementation of this strategy and the strategic breakthroughs achieved thus far. In addition, they will make recommendations for the implementation of the SEDS 2011-2020 for the remaining period. The discussion will focus on building modern market economy institutions, financing for infrastructure development, and the development of human resources.
The VDPF was held for the first time in 2013 to replace the annual Consultative Group meeting of Donors. VDPF is a high-level policy dialogue between the Vietnamese government and development partners to support substantive policy discussion on topics of mutual interest in order to foster broad-based socio-economic development and improved well-being for all Vietnamese.
