Germany shows interest in Vietnamese labour market

VOV.VN - Members of the German Association of Small- and Medium-Sized Businesses (BVMW International) have highlighted the potential for further co-operation between Vietnam and Germany in labour supply.

At a recent working session held with visiting Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc, Andreas Jahn, international managing director of BVMW, affirmed that the nation represents an important partner.

Briefing Deputy PM Phoc on the operation of BVMW, the largest business association in Europe with 960,000 members, Jahn said it is running representative offices in 85 countries globally, including Vietnam.

The association focuses on supporting its member businesses to expand market and enhance competitiveness in key areas, he said, voicing his hope that the Deputy PM’s visit would create strategic opportunities, enabling BVMW firms to further expand investments in the Vietnamese market in the near future.

For his part, Deputy PM Phoc emphasized BVMW’s crucial role and called on the association to provide continued support to German businesses in exploring opportunities and investing in the country, while also facilitating Vietnamese goods’ access to the German market.

Noting that bilateral investment and trading ties have yet to match the potential of both nations, the Deputy PM outlined various opportunities for German enterprises to both explore and invest in the Southeast Asian nation, particularly in high-tech, renewable energy, highway, high-speed rail, information technology, artificial intelligence, and training and labour.

Deputy PM Phoc reaffirmed that the country remains steadfast in its investment policy, pledging to protecting the legitimate rights and interests of businesses.

Participating BVMW member businesses raised proposals relating to co-operation and investment opportunities in different sectors, including energy transition, environmental protection, and innovation.

They shared their views on potential for linkages between the two countries in labour supply and high-quality workforce training, especially in the spheres of health care, hospitality, infrastructure, biotechnology, chemistry, as well as medical and education equipment.
