Forum promotes links between production and consumption of farm produce
VOV.VN - A press conference, hosted by the Agro Processing and Market Development Authority under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD in Hanoi on January 22, introduced a new forum to promote links between production and consumption of Vietnamese farm produce in 2019.
Nguyen Quoc Toan, acting head of the Agro Processing and Market Development Authority, said this is the first time the MARD has organised such a forum relating to the production and consumption of farm produce, noting that over time, the forum will be held annually.
The event aims to review the overall picture of agricultural production and devise solutions to help ease difficulties within the agriculture sector in the future. It also offers opportunities for production units to connect with localities, associations, businesses, and investors in the field of processing and consuming farm produce.
The forum is also set to provide a venue for businesses to expand their markets, improve the competitive edge enjoyed by Vietnamese farm produce in the context of international integration, and invite international organisations and investors to inject their own money into the agricultural sector.
Running until February 22, 2019, the event is expected to attract the participation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), representatives from associations, cooperatives, and businesses such as Vingroup, Massan, Aeon, and Big C.
Mr Toan said the MoIT will make presentations regarding the role of trade councilors in introducing Vietnamese farm produce to foreign markets. In addition, the Institute for Brand and Competitiveness Strategy will provide information relating to developing the brands of Vietnamese farm produce when entering major markets.
Moreover, foreign experts will also deliver reports on the importance of building infrastructure to increase the competitiveness of the country’s farm produce within regional and global markets.
Mr Toan also underlined the importance of identifying markets, producing clean agricultural products, obeying the rules of origin, and enhancing agricultural production links.
