Mr Jame B.DeLuca will take on the role of general director at Vinfast from September 25, according to information published on the company website.

Accordingly, Jame B.DeLuca will be in charge of building, operating, and developing the automobile manufacturing of Vinfast.

“I am honoured to have the opportunity to work in such a highly professional environment as Vingroup, with individuals fueled by the ambition to manufacture the national car brand of Vietnam.

I hope that my knowledge and experience in the automobile manufacturing sector will help Vinfast create luxurious and safe automobile models with international standards,” DeLuca said at his inauguration.

DeLuca started working for GM in 1979 and was appointed to numerous senior positions. Notably, he was appointed vice president of quality for GM Asia-Pacific and GM Daewoo Auto and Technology in November 2007 and was named vice president of quality for GM International Operations (GMIO) in 2009. Since March 31, 2014, DeLuca had been director of GM Korea Company.

He has been serving as director of CJSC GM-AVTOVAZ since June 2013. He served as vice president of GMIO at GM from January 2013 to February 1, 2014 and then served as executive vice president of global manufacturing at GM from February 1, 2014 to June 9, 2016.

During his time as executive vice president of Global Manufacturing at GM, DeLuca contributed to launching 19 new automobile models in numerous foreign markets and helped GM to maintain its position as the largest automobile manufacturer in the US and the third on the globe, with sales of 10 million units per year. GM’s famous brands include Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC, Jefang, Opel, Vauxhall, and Wuling.

In early September, Vingroup successfully convinced Vo Quang Hue to leave his position as general director at Robert Bosch Vietnam to join the Vinfast project as deputy CEO-Automotive to oversee the group's Vinfast manufacturing complex.

With his achievements at Robert Bosch Vietnam, Hue is considered an important factor in realizing the dream of “Made in Vietnam” automobiles.
