Forbes Asia lists Vinamilk among Asia’s largest public companies
Vietnam’s dairy giant Vinamilk has been named among Asia’s largest publicly traded companies by Forbes Asia magazine, known collectively as Fab 50.
This is the first time that a Vietnamese company has been included on the list, which includes 50 companies selected from more than 1,500 companies that have at least US$1.7 billion in annual revenue throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
As of August 2016, Vinamilk has market cap of US$9.2 billion, ranking 24th on the Fab 50 list. Its revenue is estimated at US$1.8 billion.
According to another report by Euro Monitor on dairy companies around the world, Vinamilk stood at 49th position by revenue last year, whose figure was 18% higher than the average revenue of Asian milk companies.
Currently Vinamilk has 10 farms and 13 factories in Vietnam, three factories in the US, New Zealand and Cambodia, and a subsidiary in Poland. The company is seeking to export its products to new markets such as Thailand, Myanmar and Africa.
The company was founded in 1976 and is headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City.
