First int’l exhibition on supporting industry gets underway in Hanoi

VOV.VN - The Vietnam International Supporting Industry and Manufacturing Exhibition 2020, the first of its kind, got underway in Hanoi on December 9 with over 170 domestic and foreign businesses taking part in the event’s debut.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Minister of Industry and Trade (MoIT) Tran Tuan Anh explained that the exhibition would provide a great opportunity for local manufacturers to strengthen their co-operation and effectively participate in global supply chains.

The Vietnamese Government together with the MoIT will continue to push forward efforts to ultimately improve policy, investment in the environment, creating favourable conditions aimed at encouraging the development of supporting and manufacturing industries, Minister Anh confirmed.

Kyle Kelhofer, country manager for Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), said the corporation was keen to support the country to develop its supporting industry while simultaneously increasing links between FDI businesses and small-and medium-sized (SMEs) businesses.

Covering a total area of 5,000 square metres, businesses are showcasing new supporting industrial products, along with advanced processing and manufacturing technologies on 250 booths.

During the three-day event, the Industry Agency of the Ministry of Industry and Trade will host two conferences to help local enterprises in the supporting industry keep pace with new trends and stay ahead of their competitors.

The exhibition is scheduled to last until December 11 with approximately 15,000 arrivals expected to visit.
