First batch of 2024 crop of lychees shipped to France
VOV.VN - Two tonnes of fresh Vietnamese lychees which meet GlobalGAP standards arrived at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris on May 28, marking the first shipment of this year's crop.
The airlifted batch stemmed from Thanh Ha district in the northern province of Hai Duong. Upon reaching supermarket shelves in the European country, the fruit captured great customer interest, with many keen on sampling and purchasing the product.
Do Thi Quynh Phuong, a representative of the importing company ACEM, said it is poised to import roughly 10 tonnes of fresh lychees this year in order to meet the anticipated high demand.
Vu Anh Son, counselor of the Vietnam Trade Office in France, applauded ongoing efforts to assist Vietnamese firms in entering the French market.
The office is in the process of collaborating with partners as it seeks to develop a long-term programme and enhance connections within the Vietnamese business community in France. This network will be ameliorated to help Vietnamese exporters access the French and wider European markets.
To enable Vietnamese farm produce to penetrate and secure a firm foothold in a fastidious market like the EU, Son emphasised that firms must strive to improve cultivation practices, along with harvesting and preservation technologies as a way of ensuring the highest quality of fresh fruits.
He therefore underlined the need to step up product introduction and promotion initiatives in a bid to help Vietnamese goods reach more local consumers, he added.
