Finance Minister applauds IMF leader's participation in FMM 2017

VOV.VN - Finance Minister Dinh Tien Dung greatly valued the Deputy Manager of the International Monetary Fund's attendance at the FMM 2017 and related activities at an October 20 meeting on the fringes of the ongoing APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting (FMM) 2017 in Hoi An, central Da Nang City.

He hailed the IMF’s role in regularly reviewing Vietnam’s macro-economy and reform process and giving comments on the country’s fiscal policy and the stabilization of the financial system as well as IMF’s report on regional macro-economy.

Dung also thanked the IMF for supporting Vietnam’s economic growth through credit programmes and technical support, particularly in tax policy and tax administrative management.

The institution’s help in expertise in budget, treasury and tax has significantly contributed to the macro-economic stability of Vietnam, helping the country reform its important public financial policies and institutions, he told his guest.

The minister glowingly spoke of the IMF’s Technical Assistance Office's assistance in enhancing the Finance Ministry’s capacity in macro-economic governance, currency, financial statistics and public financial management.

Vietnam desires to receive the IMF’s support in fiscal stability, budget management, public debt settlement and State-owned enterprise reform, and personnel training, Dung added.

For his part, Mitsuhiro Furusawa showed interest in Vietnam’s hosting of APEC 2017, lauding the Finance Ministry’s efforts to launch a string of activities of the APEC FMM 2017.

He reiterated the institution's willingness to bolster affiliation in professional issues of mutual concern and sharing its experience in prioritized areas proposed by Vietnam.
