Exports to CPTPP economies approaching US$37 billion

VOV.VN - Vietnam raked in US$36.809 billion from exports to Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) member nations in 2018.

Japan was Vietnam’s largest trading partner among CPTPP members with trading value reaching US$37.862 billion in 2018.

Statistics recently released by the General Department of Vietnam Customs show Vietnam’s trade with CPTPP member nations reached a total of US$74.478 billion last year, accounting for 15.5% of the country’s total trade turnover. Of these, US$37.669 billion was spent on imports.

Last year, Vietnam enjoyed a trade surplus with five CPTPP members, including Canada, Chile, Mexico, Australia, and Peru. Notably, the country had its largest trade surplus with Canada, which is worth US$2.155 billion.

Meanwhile, the nation reported trade deficits with the remaining five economies. 

Japan was Vietnam’s largest trading partner among CPTPP members with trading value reaching US$37.862 billion in 2018, representing 51% of the total trade-in-good value with CPTPP economies. The country earned US$18.851 billion from exports to Japan.

Garments, footwear, wooden items, and aquatic products topped the list of exports to CPTPP economies.
