Export furniture fair kicks off in Ho Chi Minh City
VOV.VN - HawaExpo 2024, the largest nationally endorsed export furniture fair, opened in Ho Chi Minh City on March 6, providing opportunities for manufacturers to showcase their capabilities, introduce innovative products, and connect potential business partners.
The expo features more than 500 exhibitors, 80% of whom are domestic producers, while the remaining 20% include prominent wooden furniture and handicraft manufacturers from numerous ASEAN countries. They are being joined by local and foreign design units, raw material suppliers, and accessory providers.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang noted that the wood industry can be considered as one of the key economic industries, playing a key role in production and trade activities.
Vietnamese wood enterprises have exported their products to 160 countries and territories around the world, with China, the EU, and Japan being their major consumers, she said.
The export of wood and wooden products has shown positive signs this year as evidenced in the number of export orders increasing by up to 90%. Indeed, a number of firms have already received orders for export until May.
Vietnam earned nearly US$1.5 billion from exporting wood and wooden products in the first two months of the year, up 72.5% year on year.
The four-day fair which is expected to draw 25,000 international visitors will select the most outstanding products and latest collections, aiming to help show international buyers the capacity and potential of Vietnamese wood, furniture, and handicraft industry.
