Expo ANTAD 2026 in Mexico spotlights Vietnamese products, trade links
VOV.VN - Expo ANTAD 2026, held in Guadalajara in Mexico’s Jalisco state from May 19-21, drew strong interest from businesses in Mexico and across Latin America in Vietnamese goods and investment opportunities linked to one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing economies.
At the fair, the Vietnam Trade Office in Mexico organized a trade promotion booth featuring the country’s investment and business environment, manufacturing capacity and key export sectors, including processed food, agricultural products, household goods, consumer products and products for global supply chains.
According to organizers, Expo ANTAD 2026 is one of the largest trade platforms for the retail, supermarket, hospitality and food industries in Mexico and Latin America, bringing together more than 1,800 companies from 70 countries and attracting around 52,000 industry visitors. Major regional retail and distribution groups such as Chedraui, Soriana, Liverpool and Waldos also attended the event.
A key focus of this year’s promotion activities was the Vietnam Trade Office’s introduction of Vietnam International Sourcing 2026, scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City from September 3-5.
Many Mexican importers and distribution systems expressed interest in traveling to Vietnam to seek direct supply sources, expand partner networks and establish stable supply chains with Vietnamese businesses.
Nguyen Thi Trang, Head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Mexico, said a growing number of Mexican companies now viewed Vietnam not only as a promising export market but also as a highly competitive manufacturing hub in Asia.
She said direct connections through specialized trade fairs such as Vietnam International Sourcing will help businesses on both sides narrow market gaps, increase the likelihood of contract signings and build long-term cooperative ties.
On the sidelines of the fair, the Vietnam Trade Office in Mexico met with importers, logistics partners and major retail chains to explore market demand and prospects for expanding cooperation with Vietnamese firms. Many partners said Vietnamese products had continued to improve in quality, design and capacity to fulfill large-volume orders, particularly in food, beverages and consumer goods.
According to the head of the trade office, international trade competition in Mexico is becoming increasingly intense amid the large-scale presence of companies from Asia, North America and other regions. This has created a need to step up trade promotion activities, expand the direct presence of Vietnamese businesses at international fairs and build a more professional, stable and more established presence for Vietnamese products in the Latin American market.
Under the plan, the Vietnam Trade Office in Mexico will continue trade promotion activities at major forums and fairs such as the 32nd Congreso COMCE, EXPOCOMER Panama and Expo ANTAD 2027 to support Vietnamese businesses in expanding partner networks, gaining deeper access to Latin American distribution systems and further promoting Vietnam International Sourcing to the international business community.
The latest data from Vietnam Customs showed that bilateral trade between Vietnam and Mexico reached US$3.22 billion during the first four month period of 2026, up 35.2% year-on-year. Vietnam’s exports totaled US$2.75 billion, up 34%, while imports rose 42.5% to US$471.16 million.
