EU-Vietnam Global Gateway business and investment forum slated for late March

VOV.VN - The first EU–Vietnam Global Gateway business and investment forum is scheduled to take place in Hanoi on March 24 under the theme “Investing Together In A Sustainable Future.”

The forum aims to serve as a bridge to translate growing economic and investment cooperation between the European Union and Vietnam into concrete initiatives, particularly as the two sides have recently elevated their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The event is expected to bring together around 500 participants and experts, including representatives from the European Union, Vietnamese government agencies, leading businesses from Europe and Vietnam, as well as international financial institutions.

Notably, the forum will be attended by Jozef Síkela, European Commissioner for International Partnerships, during his official visit to Vietnam, along with Nicola Beer, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank.

The programme will feature a plenary session and a series of specialised discussions, providing a platform for policymakers, business leaders and experts to connect and explore investment opportunities while discussing the latest policy developments.

Discussions will focus on key sectors seen as important drivers of Vietnam’s sustainable development, including sustainable transport, energy transition, infrastructure connectivity, the green and digital transformation, and the application of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards in investment and business operations.

Julien Guerrier, Ambassador of the European Union to Vietnam, said through the Global Gateway Strategy, the EU is committed to supporting Vietnam by mobilising high-quality investments and creating market opportunities to strengthen sustainable infrastructure, promote innovation, and deliver an enabling environment for long-term growth and employment.

In Vietnam, the EU prioritises supporting the green and digital transitions while promoting connectivity and innovation, he said, adding this cooperation not only brings mutual economic benefits but also contributes to long-term sustainable growth.

Beyond dialogue, the EU–Vietnam forum is expected to help address legal barriers and foster more substantive cooperation between business communities.

The event will also support Vietnamese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in accessing international investors and potential partners.

By strengthening cooperation, the forum is set to facilitate capital flows, promote technology transfer and support the development of a highly skilled workforce. These efforts will help Vietnamese businesses integrate more deeply into global value chains while advancing the country’s low-emissions development pathway and enhancing climate resilience.
