Danish garment maker opens new factory in northern Vietnam
VOV.VN - Danish garment maker Spectre has inaugurated a new factory in northern Hung Yen province, expanding its production capacity in Vietnam.
Spectre held the inauguration ceremony at Song Tra Industrial Park in Thai Binh ward on October 30. The factory, the company’s fourth in Vietnam and second in Hung Yen, has total investment capital of US$30 million and is expected to generate jobs for 3,000 local people.
Specialising in functional garments and outdoor sportswear, Spectre has incorporated energy-efficient technologies and environmental considerations into the design of its new facility. The factory has achieved LEED Gold certification, an internationally recognised standard for sustainable building design and performance.
The factory combines modern design with solar energy to improve energy efficiency and reduce its environmental footprint. According to the project’s information, it is expected to cut carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1,600 tonnes annually compared with conventional factories of a similar size.
The investment also incorporates advanced automation and artificial intelligence solutions, alongside technologies designed to optimise material use and improve production efficiency.
“Spectre is very proud of our latest investment project in Hung Yen, Vietnam,” said Jesper Klausen, Spectre's co-owner and chief business development officer.
He said the project would benefit the local community by establishing a factory with high standards for the working environment while demonstrating the company’s commitment to protecting the surrounding natural environment.
The new technologies and production solutions would also help establish higher standards across Spectre’s manufacturing operations, he added.
Beyond its environmental investments, the company aims to strengthen the capabilities of its local workforce through training and skills development, helping employees improve their technical expertise and pursue long-term career opportunities.
Spectre has set a target of reducing emissions from its own operations by 42% by 2030 and cutting emissions across its value chain by 25%.
Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Lina Gandløse Hansen welcomed Spectre’s continued investment in Vietnam, describing the project as an example of how industrial development can go hand in hand with emissions reduction.
By combining modern technology, energy efficiency and local job creation, the project demonstrates how Danish investment can support economic opportunities and contribute to Vietnam’s green transition, she added.
Vietnam and Denmark are continuing to strengthen their economic ties, creating opportunities for Danish businesses to make long-term investments, share expertise and transfer technology in support of Vietnam's green transition.
During General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam's recent state visit to Denmark, the two countries elevated their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, marking a new milestone in bilateral cooperation.
