Danish-funded garment factory inaugurated in An Giang province

VOV.VN - Specter Real Estate A/S of Denmark has recently inaugurated its first factory in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang following a two year design and construction process.

This represents Specter's third factory in the country and also Denmark's first foreign direct investment project in An Giang province, with a total investment of up to US$17 million. In line with, this factory is anticipated to generate 2,500 jobs locally.

The site has been built with high standards of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and was awarded the - Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certificate.

By making use of solar energy and a modern design, the plant is anticipated to reduce emissions by approximately 1,600 tonmes of carbon dioxide annually.

Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz said that the inauguration of the Specter factory in An Giang proves the strong upward trend of Danish FDI inflows into the country.

Simultaneously, the project also demonstrates the great importance of the Vietnamese Government's commitment to reducing carbon emissions whilst attracting quality investment into the Vietnamese market.

At present, Denmark makes up one of the leading European investors in the Vietnamese market. With the upcoming visit to Vietnam by the Crown Prince and Princess of Denmark and a delegation of 36 businesses in early November, there will be plenty of Danish investment deals taking place over the coming years, especially in the energy sector.
