The information was shared during a working session between Da Nang municipal leaders and a delegation led by Ulrich Weigl, Minister Counsellor and Head of Trade at the EU Delegation to Vietnam. The discussions focused on the city’s policies and potential areas of cooperation.

At the meeting, Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City Pople’s Committee, welcomed the delegation, noting that the visit coincides with the upcoming 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the EU (November 28, 1990- November 28, 2025).

He highlighted that the EU has long maintained effective cooperation programs with Vietnam and with Da Nang in particular. The visit provides a valuable opportunity for the city to present its investment potential and priority projects, as well as to engage comprehensively in diplomatic activities.

Vice Chairman Cuong also introduced the “new Da Nang” with expanded development space, fresh growth momentum, and strategic advantages, including special policies and mechanisms. The city has been selected as the site for the Vietnam International Financial Centre (IFC) and the Free Trade Zone (FTZ), making it crucial to attract investors, businesses, and skilled labor.

"With Da Nang’s expanded potential, we hope that the attention and support of the European Union, as well as the embassies of its member states, will help the city continue to strengthen cooperation and development in the time ahead. We also expect that your survey visits and first-hand experiences will further promote investment and support collaboration between Da Nang and the localities of EU member states, as well as the EU itself," Cuong affirmed.
