Da Nang promotes cooperation with Germany’s Chemnitz City

VOV.VN - A delegation from the Vietnamese city of Da Nang recently paid a working visit to Chemnitz, Germany, with the aim of promoting cooperation between the two cities.

Receiving the delegation, Ralph Burghart, deputy mayor of Chemnitz, gave his guests an overview of the city and its socio-economic situation, highlighting key strengths in industry, science and technology, and innovation, especially in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence.

The Da Nang delegation expressed strong impressions of the advanced capabilities of the Fraunhofer Institute, particularly its facilities for microchip testing and research.

Da Nang’s leaders also shared updates on the city’s development and future directions. Notably, from July 1, 2025, Da Nang merged with Quang Nam province, forming a new Da Nang City with a total area of 12,000 square kilometers and a population of over 3 million, creating vast potential for growth and international cooperation.

With two major airports, three international seaports, two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, along with a network of high-tech zones, economic zones, industrial parks, and free trade areas, Da Nang is well-positioned to attract investment and collaborate in fields such as science and technology, innovation, semiconductors, AI, cloud computing, commerce, and tourism.

The Vietnamese Government has granted Da Nang special mechanisms and policies, positioning the city as a key growth hub of the country. In the near future, Da Nang will introduce more attractive policies to draw international investors. The city also boasts a wealth of unique cultural products to showcase to global friends, such as Hoi An Ancient Town, the Cham Sculpture Museum, and the International Fireworks Festival.

Recognising many shared values and opportunities for collaboration, the leaders of Da Nang proposed strengthening cooperation in education, scientific research, innovation, and human resource training. They also emphasised the potential for expert exchanges, experience sharing in urban development, business-to-business connections, and cultural and tourism cooperation, laying a solid foundation for a long-term partnership between Da Nang and Chemnitz.
