Da Nang Free Trade Zone set to become key growth engine and regional logistics hub
VOV.VN - The newly established zone is expected to drive high-quality growth in central Vietnam and help Da Nang emerge as a vital link in regional and global supply chains.

The Da Nang People’s Committee on June 22 held a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister’s decision on establishing the Da Nang Free Trade Zone.
Under a decision No. 1142 issued by the Prime Minister on June 13, 2025, the Da Nang Free Trade Zone was officially established. Covering 1,881 hectares spread across seven non-contiguous sites, the zone features a range of functional areas, including manufacturing, logistics, trade and services, digital industries, information technology, innovation, and other related sectors.
The zone is planned and developed on the basis of modern, integrated infrastructure across production, trade, logistics, technology, and high-quality services. It aims to become a regional economic hub and a strategic growth driver for both central Vietnam and the country as a whole. Over the long term, the Da Nang Free Trade Zone is expected to serve as a vital link in global and Asia–Pacific supply chains, a center for manufacturing and international logistics, closely connected with Lien Chieu Port, Da Nang International Airport, and the East–West Economic Corridor. It is also envisioned as a catalyst for innovation-driven industry and digital transformation, contributing to Da Nang’s economic restructuring following its merger with central Quang Nam province.

The Free Trade Zone is intended to be closely linked with the International Financial Center in Da Nang, aiming to establish a smart, modern, and highly competitive economic ecosystem with strong regional spillover effects, thereby enhancing Vietnam’s position in the region and globally. Operations, policies, and management of the zone will be implemented in accordance with National Assembly Resolution No. 136 (2024) and other relevant legal documents.
Speaking at the ceremony, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh emphasized that this is the first free trade zone to be shaped in Vietnam, adding that the Politburo, Central Committee, National Assembly, and Government have given Da Nang special attention.
The Politburo has issued a dedicated resolution for the city, while the National Assembly has approved exceptional mechanisms to help Da Nang break through. He called on the Party Committee, authorities, and people of Da Nang to show strong determination and take bold action to turn the Party’s vision and the Government’s special policies into reality. He also highlighted that the free trade zone was initiated by the Da Nang Party Committee and, if successfully implemented, will serve as an economic breakthrough not only for Da Nang but also for the central region and the whole country.

The zone, developed in tandem with the International Financial Center, is projected to transform Da Nang into a center for high-quality services and a key engine of growth for the central–Central Highlands region and the nation. It will also form a vital link connecting the East–West Economic Corridor, the Asia–Pacific region, and the global economy.
Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang described the decision as a significant milestone for the new development phase of Da Nang following its merger. He called on interested investors to promptly fulfill their commitments and responsibilities, while affirming that the city will create the most favorable conditions for the successful implementation of the free trade zone and related projects.
At the ceremony, the Da Nang People’s Committee presented memoranda of understanding on investment in the Free Trade Zone to eight strategic investors, and issued notices permitting four interested companies to conduct investment studies. These included Amata Vietnam Public Joint Stock Company, Green Ipark JSC, Quoc Quang Power Co., Ltd., and European Plastics JSC.
