Czech, Vietnam bolster trade links

(VOV) -Vietnam Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Truong Manh Son proposed setting up a Viet-Czech Trade Promotion Centre in Prague to strengthen economic links while recently meeting with around 20 Vietnamese business community representatives in the Czech Republic.

The business representatives underlined the need to establish the centre, saying the lack of updated information led to the failure of many Czech firms in Vietnam.

Bilateral trade hit US$ 652 million in the first half of 2014, in which Vietnam’s trade surplus accounted for 86%, Son said.

The Vietnamese diplomat said Vietnam is among 12 priority markets of the Czech Republic to 2020, and is the only Asian country in the list, adding that the Czech government wants to reduce its trade deficit with Vietnam.

He asked Vietnamese businesses in the Czech Republic to better perform their role as a bridge for the promotion of trade between the two nations.
