Cultivation law promotes farm produce’s competitiveness
Cultivation law should be issued to facilitate plantation and improve values and competitiveness of agricultural products to meet domestic and export demand.
Dung said that once the law takes effect, comprehensive management will be applied for cultivation activities in value chains.
The draft law also regulates the focused production zones and management of plantation zones to encourage the production value chain. Contracts to connect farmers with enterprises are also stipulated in the draft law.
At the event, representatives from the Southeast Asia Regional Initiatives for Community Empowerment (SEARICE), the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and Oxfam talked about challenges and trend of the global agricultural production as well as the role of the farmers in varieties management and food security.
The conference will close on March 21.
