On average, CPI in the first two months of the year surged by 3.67% against the same period from last year.

The people’s rising demand for goods and services during the Lunar New Year can be attributed to the increase in the CPI recorded in February. Furthermore, several other factors include the rise in domestic rice and gasoline prices in line with global prices.

Among the 11 main groups of consumer goods and services, a total of nine saw a rise in price, while two categories saw price decreases, including postal and telecommunications with a drop of 0.17% and education with a fall of 0.42%.

On average, core inflation in the first two months of the year went up 2.84% on-year, lower than the general average CPI of 3.67%, mainly due to food, gasoline, and service prices, as well as health care and educational service prices.
