Construction begins on Vinh Phuc ICD Logistics Centre
VOV.VN - The Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Committee, T&T Group, and YCH - the world's leading logistics group, officially kicked off a project on December 12 to build the Vinh Phuc ICD Logistics Center.
The VND3.8 trillion project which covers a total area of more than 83 hectares in Huong Canh village of Binh Xuyen district, is invested by T&Y Superport Vinh Phuc Joint Stock Company and has a design capacity of approximately 530,000 TEUs per year.
The centre is the first of the ASEAN smart logistics network (ASLN) and is part of concrete development plans for Vietnam’s inland port and logistics centre system till 2030.
It will serve as a Distribution Center (DC) and Inland Container Depot (ICD) in order to provide logistical services in line with relevant market demand.
To keep up with the technological trends occuring in logistics and the development needs of container transport, the ICD centre will apply the world's latest technology by effectively making use of robots for automation at warehouses.
According to the plan, the investor will put into operation the first phase of the project in the third quarter of 2022, and the second phase from the fourth quarter of 2024.
A representative of T&T Group emphasised that the centre is expected to make breakthroughs in the local se logistics sector by reducing logistics costs to between16% and 20% by 2025, and simultaneously accelerating trade exchanges between Vietnam, other ASEAN counties, China, and other international markets.
