The ICD Hoa Lu port is set to receive nearly US$380 million of investment from ICD Hoa Lu Company Limited. It will cover a total area of 38 hectares within Hoa Lu Border Economic Zone in Loc Ninh district.

The first phase of construction will take place on a 13 hectare site with a focus on completing dry port items by 2020, designed to handle between 200,000 to 500,000 containers each year. Construction will continue on an additional 25 hectares under the second phase in order to raise the cargo capacity to 900,000 containers a year by 2030.

The port has been added by the Ministry of Transport to the national dry port development blueprint for 2020, with a vision towards 2030.

The site will be built with advanced technologies, therefore enabling it to fully serve the loading and unloading, and storage of cargo, customs clearance, and logistical services.

Once completed, the port will specialize in handling containers to be imported from Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand as well as domestic shipments being sent to overseas markets.
