Chinese media praises Vietnam’s economic achievements, outlook

Chinese media outlets, including The Paper, CRI, Sohu, Sina, the Guangdong E-Commerce Association's website, and BWC, have published numerous reports and analyses highlighting Vietnam’s remarkable economic achievements in 2024 and its promising outlook for 2025.

According to these reports, Vietnam's economy demonstrated robust growth this year, with GDP expanding by 6.42% in the first half and projected to surpass 6.8% for the entire year. Optimistic forecasts suggest growth could even reach 7%, exceeding the Vietnamese Government’s expectations and outperforming the average growth rate in recent years.

Looking ahead to 2025 and beyond, the Southeast Asian country is expected to maintain its growth momentum, achieving breakthroughs and diverse development across various sectors. Its export-driven industries are projected to continue thriving as the global economy gradually recovers and its role in global supply chains strengthens. Domestic consumption and investment are also anticipated to serve as key drivers of economic growth.

Chinese media also highlighted Vietnam’s proactive efforts in industrial upgrade and transformation, focusing on switching from traditional labour-intensive to technology-driven industries. The Government is ramping up support for high-tech and green energy sectors, boosting the economy’s value-added potential and competitiveness.

Tourism, assessed as a key pillar of Vietnam’s economic growth, is poised for a boom as the global tourism market recovers and local infrastructure is being improved. The nation is also making progress in digital economy development and technological innovation, integrating advanced technologies like the Internet, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its real economy. This integration is anticipated to inject fresh vitality into the economy, improving production efficiency and service quality, and driving high-quality development.

Furthermore, Chinese media spotlighted Vietnam’s active participation in international cooperation, regional integration, as well as economic, trade and people-to-people exchanges with neighbouring nations. Through promoting mechanisms like the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the country is expected to play an increasingly pivotal role in this realm.
