China’s Yu Chai invests in US$260 million motor manufacturing factory in Vietnam

VOV.VN - Kim Long Motor Hue JSC and Yu Chai of China on August 23 signed a contract to build a US$260 million motor manufacturing factory at Chan My – Lang Co economic zone in Thua Thien-Hue province, central Vietnam.

This is the first time Vietnam has received advanced technology to manufacture modern automobile engines and engines for other industries, contributing to realizing the long-standing dream of generations of Vietnamese people and to the cause of national industrialization and modernization.

The US$260 million project will be divided into two phases, with the first phase focusing on manufacturing engines for the automotive industry, starting in the first quarter of 2025.

The factory’s products are diverse with car engine lines, marine engines, generator engines, engines used in agricultural production and engines for machines used in civil works.

The factory prioritizes the production and assembly of internal combustion engines (Diesel), CNG engines and electric engines with a capacity of more than 12,000 items per year in the first phase will increase the capacity in the following years, said a representative of Kim Long Motor Hue JSC.

The products will not only meet Kim Long Motor’s production needs and feed the domestic market but also be exported to ASEAN countries, the Republic of Korea and other markets, he said.

On this occasion, Kim Long Motor also launched a completely new generation of sleeper buses under the Kim Long 99 brand, that are equipped with the new generation YuChai K11 engine. Kim Long Motor and YuChai delivered the first batch of 60 new sleeper buses to the first customers.
