China requested to facilitate customs clearance for agricultural exports
VOV.VN - Vietnam has suggested that China should create favourable conditions to boost customs clearance for Vietnamese agricultural products stuck in border areas.
In a letter sent to the Chinese Commerce Minister and Governor of China’s Yunnan border province, Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien noted it is important to ensure safety in border trade transactions amid both nations’ COVID-19 fight.
He also mentioned some of difficulties faced by Vietnamese exporters in the border areas and asked China for help to resolve the issue.
According to Dien, Yunnan authorities announced to suspend importing Vietnamese dragon fruit through border gates from July this year due to COVID-19 situation, causing a great loss to Vietnamese farmers. In contrast, the Chinese side kept on exporting agricultural products to Vietnam with approximately 400 trucks passing through border gates every day.
Dien therefore suggested that the Chinese Minister of Commerce direct Yunnan to urgently lift measures imposed on agricultural imports at international border gates between the two countries.
The Chinese side should therefore co-ordinate with Vietnamese border localities in order to maintain the exchange of goods while also conducting relevant COVID-19 prevention and control measures, he noted.
