Century-old value of Central Highlands coffee

VOV.VN - Coffee trees have been planted in the Central Highlands for hundred years, making the region ‘the King of Vietnamese coffee’.

The 6th Buon Ma Thuot coffee festival is held to mark the 100th year Robusta coffee trees have been planted in DakLak plateau.

Robusta coffee trees were planted here for the first time by the French about a century ago.

CADA Coffee farm was owned by the French company, Compagnie Agricole D'asie. Pictured is the headquarters of CADA built a century ago.

CADA headquarters was recognized as the national historical relics in 1999.

Phuoc An Coffee Company now owns CADA farm.

French employers set up many coffee farms. By 1975, total areas under coffee in the Central Highlands reached 10,000ha.

Currently, the Central Highlands has around 470,000ha of coffee tree, accounting for more than 90% of the country’s total areas and 95% of total coffee output.

Coffee planting has enriched many families in the Central Highlands.



First Robusta coffee trees were planted by the French CADA company in 1916-1917.

Coffee trees are blossoming across the region this time of the year.
