Cashless Day 2021 launched to stimulate consumption

VOV.VN - Hanoi played host to Cashless Day 2021 on November 5 as part of efforts to stimulate consumption and change residents’ habit of using cash in daily transactions.

The event saw the participation of numerous businesses operating across multiple fields, including banking, e-commerce, and retail, as well as consumers in the capital.

Cashless Day aims to disseminate information on the benefits of cashless payment, and promote e-commerce, especially for customers who go shopping at shopping malls, supermarkets, convenience store chains, and other e-commerce channels.

The event will be popularized throughout November via various forms, such as social networks, advertising banners, and leaflets. A number of booths will be erected to introduce products and services which make use of non-payment methods.

To keep up with the Industry 4.0 trend and e-commerce development, the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade will encourage organisations and businesses to deploy an array of modern forms of payment in an attempt to nudge consumers into using non-cash payment methods in the future.

Last year saw the event held at a number of supermarket chains, such as Pico, Big C, and 2,000 other locations across the city, attracting more than 660,000 customers and grossing a total revenue of over VND300 billion.

Cashless Day 2021 is expected to run throughout November.
