Carriers asked to increase flights for coming holiday

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has asked domestic carriers to increase flights to meet the travel demand for the upcoming National Day of September 2.

Specifically, the authority asked them to increase night time flight hours, to not only meet travelling demand, but also to ensure operation efficiency.

Demand during national holidays often increases sharply, especially on domestic routes to tourist spots, the authority said, adding that carriers need to ensure safety and convenience for passengers.

National carrier Vietnam Airlines recently said that it will increase the number of flights from August 30 to September 4 to nearly 500,000 seats, or nearly 2,500 flights on both domestic and international routes.

The airlines will increase flights on popular routes connecting Hanoi, HCM City with Da Nang, Da Lat and Cam Ranh, and HCM City with Hue and Phu Quoc. The total number of seats of domestic flights is 330,000 or 1,700 flights, up 19%.

Flights for international routes to India, China, Thailand and Australia will also be increased. To date, bookings have reached nearly 50% of the seats.

Vietjet also plans to increase by 25,000 seats for the coming holiday.

Vietnam will take a four-day break for the National Day.
