Receiving the diplomat in the city, Hien emphasised that Can Tho encourages Philippine businesses to further invest in potential fields, including agricultural and seafood processing, as well as stepping up cooperation in organic agricultural production and high-tech agriculture.
He proposed that Ambassador Montealegre introduce the city’s investment potential to associations and investors in the Philippines and provide information about the strengths, trade barriers, and investment orientations of Philippine businesses so that Can Tho can devise plans to elevate its own image in the market.
For his part, Ambassador Montealegre expressed his belief that economic cooperation and cultural exchange will further deepen the relationship between the two countries moving forward.
He revealed that the Philippines would send more delegations to explore cooperation opportunities in Can Tho in the future.
Statistics show Can Tho raked in US$56.91 million from exporting its major products such as rice, seafood, garments, fertilizers, and chemicals to the Philippines between January and September 2023.
