Business association to work for more Vietnamese investment in Laos
The Vietnamese Business Association in Northern Laos held the first congress in Luang Prabang city on January 10.
The newly-elected chairman of the association, Phi Van Mai, pledged that the organisation will actively create favourable conditions for its members to explore the market and minimise risks, connect small- and medium-sized firms in northern Lao provinces with those in the Vietnamese twin localities, and enhance relations among businesses and the two sides’ provinces so as to promote trade and tourism links.
The association will continue calling on major enterprises of Vietnam to make investment and do business in Laos in such fields as transport and energy infrastructure, agriculture, forestry, manufacturing, services, and especially new and potential sectors such as IT, educational, and healthcare infrastructure.
He added it will also assist and provide legal advice for the Vietnamese companies already operating or planning to operate in Laos, as well as to the Lao companies wishing to invest in Vietnam, thereby helping to strengthen the great friendship between the two countries.
Consul General of Vietnam in Luang Prabang Nguyen Dang Hung expressed his hope that in the time ahead, the association will serve as a bridge linking the two countries’ business communities, uphold solidarity, and step up innovation and reform, thus contributing to the great friendship, special solidarity, and all-round cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
Established on December 13, 2020, the Vietnamese Business Association in Northern Laos consists of more than 60 members which are operating in eight northern Lao provinces. It is also a member of the Vietnam Business Association for Cooperation and Investment in Laos.
