Boeing opens first office in Vietnam

The Boeing Company has opened its new office in Vietnam’s capital of Hanoi, the first office of the US plane manufacturer in Vietnam, reflecting the continued importance of the region to the company.

Although the country has been facing multiple difficulties triggered by COVID-19, Boeing is still confident in the development of the local aviation market. Therefore, it has invested in the market and affirmed its commitment to supporting the market by opening the office in Hanoi.

Boeing has also named Alexander Feldman to lead its Southeast Asia business. Feldman used to serve in senior roles in the U.S. Departments of State and Commerce and has held leadership positions in Asia-based businesses.

He was also president and CEO of the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) for over 12 years and served as its chairman in 2020-2021, helping to steer the Council through the COVID-19 pandemic. At the US-ABC, Feldman represented 170 of the largest U.S. enterprises, including Boeing, and managed seven offices in Southeast Asia.

Michael Arthur, president of Boeing International, said, “We are excited to have Alex join Boeing as he brings to the team a strong combination of diplomatic and business skills garnered during his more than 30 years in the private and public sectors in the region.”

Boeing’s presence in Vietnam will support the company’s growth objectives across its commercial airplanes, defense and services businesses.

Feldman said he was proud to join Boeing, one of the world’s iconic brands, and a strong and growing partner to one of the fastest-growing and most consequential markets in the world: Southeast Asia.

With over 380 million people under the age of 35, Southeast Asia will bolster Boeing’s growth for decades to come and support hundreds of thousands of American jobs as well as countless others across the region, added Feldman.
