Bac Luan bridge connecting Vietnam with China opens to traffic

VOV.VN - The Bac Luan bridge II which connects Mong Cai city in the northern province of Quang Ninh with Dongxing in Guangxi, China, opened to traffic on March 19.

    The Bac Luan bridge II goes across Ka Long river and is located3.2 km away from the Bac Luan bridge I. In total, the bridge is 619 metres in length and 27.7 metres in width. It has been built to withstand a magnitude 7.0 earthquake.

In attendance at the opening ceremony were Nguyen Van Doc, Secretary of Quang Ninh province Party Committee, and representatives from China’s Guangxi province.

The new bridge is expected to develop economic, trade, and tourism activities among the Vietnamese and Chinese localities
The first lorries began their import-export procedures immediately after the ceremony
The bridge is able to accommodate vehicles of up to 60 tons
The opening of the bridge will help to ease traffic congestion
 
 
A range of modern infrastructure facilities have been built in the vicinity of the structure, including a warehouse system of up to 70,000 square metre
More than 100 vehicles conducted import-export procedures through the bridge during the first day of opening
