Aviation Expo 2022 opens in Hanoi, showcases new technologies, models

VOV.VN - More than 50 domestic and foreign aviation firms participated in the Vietnam International Aviation Expo 2022 which kicked off in Hanoi on September 15.

Themed ‘Sustainable development for a bright future’, the expo will showcase a variety of advanced aviation equipment, technologies, and modern aircraft models from many countries around the world.

It will also include conferences and seminars relating to key topics such as the aviation market’s outlook moving into the post COVID-19 period, employee retention, future aviation trends, and the latest technologies.

Deputy Minister of Transport Le Anh Tuan stressed that the launch of the expo marked the strong recovery of the Vietnamese aviation industry following a two-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event provides a prime opportunity for businesses to exchange and boost co-operation in the field of aviation, and helps to promote images of the local aviation industry, as well as the land and people of Vietnam internationally, Tuan noted.

According to details given by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the first half of this year saw the country’s aviation market welcome 23.3 million passengers, a rise of over 74.2% compared to the same period from 2021. Of the figure, domestic passengers amounted to 20.8 million, up 58.4% year on year.

Most notably, the total number of seats reached over 6.5 million, ranking second in Southeast Asia behind only Indonesia.

The Vietnamese aviation industry is widely considered to have great potential for strong development moving forward. According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Vietnam will be the fifth fastest-growing aviation market in the world, reaching 150 million passengers by 2035.
