Australia launches anti-dumping probe into Vietnamese steel
VOV.VN - Australia has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into galvanised steel imports from Vietnam and the Republic of Korea, with Vietnamese producers Hoa Sen Group and Nam Kim Steel facing alleged dumping margins of up to 56.21%, according to the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam.
The probe was launched by the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission under the Department of Industry, Science and Resources following a petition from BlueScope Steel Australia, which claims imported galvanised steel from the two countries was sold at unfairly low prices, harming Australia’s domestic steel industry.
Companies named in the investigation include Hoa Sen Group, Nam Kim Steel and two Korean steelmakers.
According to the investigation notice, the review period spans from January 1 to December 31, 2025, while Australian authorities are expected to complete their findings and submit a final report to relevant ministers by October 2, 2026.
The products under scrutiny fall under HS codes 7210.49.00, 7212.30.00, 7225.92.00 and 7226.99.00. Preliminary calculations showed dumping margins for Vietnamese exporters could reach as high as 56.21%.
The Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam under the Ministry of Industry and Trade has called on affected companies to cooperate fully with investigators, submit accurate information on time and comply with all procedural requirements to avoid the risk of being subjected to higher punitive duties due to non-cooperation.
The agency also urged businesses to prepare response strategies, diversify export markets and maintain close coordination with authorities throughout the investigation process.
