Argentinian Ambassador highlights Vietnam’s impressive economic development

VOV.VN - Vietnam is on track to economic recovery and sustained impressive growth compared to other countries, Argentinian Ambassador to Vietnam Luis Pablo Maria Beltramino said in a recent media interview at the outset of 2023.

He said the Vietnamese Government’s measures and policies aimed at spurring development are admirable and deserve to be studied and applied.

According to the General Statistics Office, the nation’s GDP soared 8.02% in 2022, the highest in the 2011-2022 period and tripling that of 2021.

Regarding the Vietnam-Argentina relations, Beltramino stated that a broad array of activities are planned on scheduled to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic ties (1973 – 2023).

According to him, the logo for the event will be used for all of the embassy's diplomatic notes starting January this year, while a plan is set to invite Argentinian artists to perform in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Exhibitions and cultural programmes will be held in both nations’ national libraries in addition to a range of trade promotion activities, he added.

Both sides will intensify delegation exchanges at all levels, particularly high level ones, he said, suggesting the establishment of the Vietnam – Argentina and Argentina – Vietnam friendship associations.

The Argentinean diplomat said since the diplomatic ties were established, there has been a stable increase in bilateral trade, especially during the past 12 years following the upgrade of their relations to comprehensive partnership in 2010.

Two-way trade increased from US$875 million in 2011 to US$4.5 billion in 2021.  The first 11 months of 2022 saw the figure hit US$4.52 billion, representing a-year-on-year rise of 6.9%.

Argentina currently is the third biggest trade partner of Vietnam in Latin America, while Vietnam is the largest trade partner of Argentina in Southeast Asia and 6th globally.

Beltramino predicted that the bilateral trade to continue with the upward trend in the time ahead and affirmed his wish to reinforce relations with Vietnam.

Talking about the forthcoming lunar traditional New Year festival (Tet), he showed his elation at joining the longest and biggest traditional festival holiday in the Southeast Asian nation for the first time with the hope of experiencing local customs and diverse activities.
