Aquatic exports to Belgium surge 74.32% during seven-month period

VOV.VN - Vietnamese seafood exports to the Belgian market during the past seven months of the year surged by 74.32% to US$124.79 million compared to the same period from last year, according to details given by the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

July alone witnessed Vietnamese seafood export turnover to the Belgian market decline by 8.63% to US$18.12 million compared to June, although this marked an increase of 22.2% compared to July, 2021.

Furthermore, strong export growth was recorded in aquatic products such as frozen shrimp, frozen pangasius, frozen tuna, frozen squid, and frozen clams.

Thanks to this level of robust growth, the country’s seafood market shares as part of Belgium's total imports has enjoyed a remarkable increase.

According to information given by Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU, the market share of Vietnamese seafood as part of Belgium's total seafood imports increased from 6.1% in the first four months of last year to 7.6% in the same period this year.

Moving forward, Vietnamese seafood exports to the Belgian market are likely to slow down due to reduced consumer demand as a resule of high inflation globally.
