AOT's airport development plans now underway

Airports of Thailand (AOT) is set to implement expansion development plans for all of its 6 airports in the next 10 years with an investment budget of 220 billion baht.

AOT President, Nitinai Sirismatthakarn, revealed that the plans aim to raise the capacities of 6 major airports, including Suvarnabhumi, Phuket, Hat Yai, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai and Mae Fah Luang International Airports. They are expected to accommodate 100 million more passengers by 2025.

The AOT is expected to spend 220 billion baht to complete these projects, said the AOT president, adding Thailand will be able to accommodate 42.5 million more passengers annually beginning this year after the completion of the remodeling of Phuket International Airport in June.

Last year, a total of 133 million passengers passed through airports operated by the AOT.

The AOT is currently in the process of expanding Suvarnabhumi Airport. The expansion began in 2016 and is expected to be completed by 2021. Once completed, its capacity will be around 45-60 million passengers per year.
